Case in point...
I received an incredible digital camera for Christmas - thanks to my awesome sis, Nana. It's so perfect, point, click - and wallah! Picture!
I always promised myself that when I got a digital camera I would not let the pictures/videos pile up on it so that I don't have to take care of a 200 at once. Needless to say, the memory started with over 900+ and I'm now at three hundred something... I guess I'll add that to my resolutions for the new year.
Here's the deal. I don't like to take the time to follow the directions. Honestly, it's just not my learning style. To really figure something out, I have to be taught as I do it myself. Some people can totally "get it" by just reading... I so wish I could. Though this should not deter me from at least trying... or so you'd think.
Anywho, how hard can this be, right? I'll just put the plug in the camera and the other end in the computer - because I'm so high tech, I know where to plug it in - this will be a breeze.
The camera screen comes up (I'm so the bomb). It asks how I would like to download them. I click my choice and... nothing. Surely, it must not be plugged in all the way. I then notice that the camera is off while it's plugged in. That has to be the problem. I spend (no kidding) 25 minutes trying to keep the camera on while it's plugged into the computer. You see, most people would consult the user guide.... but clearly, I don't need it.
My next step is to ask my son, oh computer guru extraordinaire, for help. Obviously, the camera is broken. He walks in looks it over and simply asks, "Did you read the instructions?"
Well... ummm... no...
He's not being flip, this is just how he learns. He reads up on everything he can find about a subject and then dives in. He's so not like his mama.
Alex checks up on it and sees that the camera is not supposed to be on when it's plugged into the pc... you've got to be kidding me...
The good news is that the camera is not broken, it's the user.
I told him not to worry about it, that I would read up on it and finish it myself.
I can honestly say, that I started with good intentions. I not only opened the user guide, I searched it
Needless to say it's now 5:30 am, Alex gets up at 8:00, so I guess I'll have it all figured out by 8:22.
